This week Deloitte released a 77 page proposal to inform the future of SOU. It reads as a plan for managed decline. Shockingly, it doesn't mention AI even once, even as this technology is poised to displace or transform almost all the areas of work used to justify the strategy.
I think we need a bolder vision for the University, one that reflects our region's unique strengths. One that doesn't just make the school smaller, but rather more necessary.
I've outlined an approach to doing this. It builds on many of the practical observations and suggestions in the analysis, but attempts to layer in a strategic frame. I'm hoping the Trustees, and the whole community, have the chance to think bigger as the work continues.
