From the polished lenses of Galileo's telescope to the purified silicon inside Jensen's GPUs, humans have forged instruments of truth-seeking and sense-making that challenge old belief systems and raise new power structures, built, literally, on sand. We find ourselves in an alchemical age, somewhere between magic and science, where results outpace understanding and evangelists promise omniscient intelligence and autonomous power. Join us for a facilitated discussion, bringing diverse views on religion, technology, and governance, and the curiosity to explore possible and preferable futures. Facilitated by Toshi Hoo, Lead Designer & Strategist at Possibility Spaces (possibilityspaces.com). Toshi is a media artist, creative technologist and keynote speaker whose work has been featured at the United Nations, TED, The Tech Interactive, Gray Area and Ars Electronica. He was Director of the Emerging Media Lab at the Institute for the Future, and Media Technologist for futurist Ray Kurzweil, with whom he co-directed the documentary "The Singularity is Near."
